Surprisingly, PINK!

Masjid Dimaukom or Pink Mosque

Maguindanao, Philippines

Of course the “chasing mosques” adventure will not be completed if you don’t explore Maguindanao. It is only adjacent from Cotabato City and can be reached through a trisikad (a three- wheeled motorcycle commonly a mode of transportation in the locality). I recommend to rent a trisikad going to the Pink Mosque, which would take you an hour to reach the said place.

When we reached the barangay, most of the infrastructures were painted in a hue of pink. And there you can see the quiet big Pink Mosque. You can also try the Pater (local rice meal with curry wrapped in a banana leaf) for lunch.

The Masjid Dimaukom or Pink Mosque is a mosque in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao, the Philippines. The mosque's construction was financed by Datu Saudi Ampatuan Mayor, Samsodin Dimaukon. The land where the mosque was built was a property of the mayor's family. The mosque was painted pink to symbolize peace and love and was built by workmen to symbolize unity and inter-faith brotherhood.

Inside the Pink mosque were columns and cold floors plated with gold. It’s high ceiling dome is illuminated with rays of sun that made it well- lit and astonishing.

Cotabato has always lived with negative reputation despite with its gorgeously built mosques. Mosques are not only praying arenas but also symbolizes gift of peace, love and, unity among Islams.

It is more than just a religious replica and praying haven, but it is way more than what the people has inimically perceived.
