Asik- asik and its Virginity
Asik- Asik Falls, Alamada, North Cotabato
The trip going to Alamada, North Cotabato is quiet tiresome and exhausting. Coming from the northern part of mindanao, Cagayan de Oro (CDO City) to be specific - North Cotabato is a far travelled place to be. It took me 9 hours of bus ride from CDO City going to Alamada proper, a place situated in North Cotabato.
From Alamada, you need to ride a habal- habal (a transportation modality like a single motorcyle) going to the underrated Asik- Asik Falls. it is cost- effective to pay P 500 only for the habal- habal for your whole- day travel in North Cotabato.
After an arid habal- habal ride, at last I have reached the very infamous and not so well- known but majestic Asik- asik Falls.
The beauty of the Asik- Asik waterfalls in Alamada town in North Cotabato had remained hidden from the public eye.
Residents of Sitio Dulao in Alamada’s Barangay (village) Upper Dado call the natural wonder “asik-asik” because water from rocks on the cliff sprinkle the river beside it, creating a tapestry of waterfall. “Asik” in Hiligaynon language, means “sprinkle.”
A 140 to 200- meter rockwall which water crashes down to the bottom of a very- cold water basin consisting with big boulders which the locals said that the place is naturally- made brought by Typhoon Sendong which devastated the big parts of Mindanao last 2011.
I tagged it as a VIRGIN waterfall since it is not well- known to the people who loves chasing waterfalls. Maybe because of the the callously long travel against the unpaved ways going to the Asik- Asik paradise.
This Asik- Asik travel jumpstarted another adventure in my life.
It's time chase your own waterfall and tell the story.
