My 365 days in Qatar
Living in Qatar for 365 days has been one of the most poised achievements in life. It taught me a lot of new things, either personally or about the world. Qatar, as the Arabic nation has been one of the underrated countries in the world, which I had the sparkle of interest to work here. It seems like this maroon- bannered country never existed and has never been heard by several people but bemuses the whole world with its affluence.
In my perspective, there are 5 simple yet naive things you don’t know about Qatar;
Yes, it rains. Qatar is a desert country and mostly all of you doesn’t know this desert land experienced rainy days too. Simply, a fact. During season change, rain would be evident and it feels like you are living in the tropics again.
Qatar is an open country. It has become one of the most open country in the Middle East and in terms of visa affiliation. A country that is more lax and loosened when it comes to public practices. We can wear shorts, women can drive and even laugh in streets. Pinned that FIFA World Cup will be happening here soon.
Guided by Sheikh, their great leader or some called him their king who wields great power and sway across the nation. Hear says potentiates the belief that the Qataris are privileged and most comfortable people. since the government provides most of the fundamental services.
Qatar is a cultural melting pot. It is multicultural, and weaves diversity among different countries. It’s a place where color is not an issue where values race and multi- faceted culture are all valued.
Every so often, food is a reflection how best the culture has served to the world. Foods here were simply the best, naming kunafa, biryani, karak, and etc. Qatar has been offering one of a kind delicacies that definitely fireworks in the tastebuds.
Qatar is home.
My second home.
My few baby steps here were mostly building of friendship, of discovering ingenuities of people and of adapting to variances in life. In my surprise, my 365 days is just like yesterday’s. Indeed, time flies so fast.
